In The Gardener's Armoury tools and body parts are joined together to form strange hybrid forms. This work exploits  the chameleon nature of ceramics, its ability to mimic other materials and suggest other states of beng. The forms in this series express our recipricol relationships: we shape, and are shaped by the objects, bodies, spaces and environments we encounter and inhabit. Gardens, like bodies, are always in a state of flux and change, of becoming something new. Our attempts at control are only ever an illusion.

Bounce, Sydney College
of the Arts, Nov 1994

This work was selected for 'Hatched, Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA), and shown in 1995
