ECHO CALL,WOODFORD ACADEMY, BLUE MOUNTAINS, 2017
Echo Call, Sept-Oct 2017. Woodford Academy, NSW National Trust.
‘Echo Call’ is a exhibition of drawings by Blue Mountains artists Freedom Wilson and Jacqueline Spedding that ‘speak’ to the rooms, objects and grounds of the Woodford Academy and the many people who pass through them. ‘Echo Call’ alludes to drawing as a reflection or reverberation of something solid – the space of a room, the surface of an object, the contours of a landscape – that is altered through the distance of time and experience.
Drawing is central to the practice of each of the artists. In the context of this exhibition drawing may be anything from naturalistic observations to abstract mark makings and may take many forms including three-dimensional objects.
